When Hayato found himself back in his world, alone, he naturally had written off what happened at the manor as a dream... but at the same time... he couldn’t help but feel the pangs of heartbreak. He felt stupid for falling for something that had to have been a dream.... but the idea of having someone that loved him for just being him... it... it was too good to be true... but didn’t matter now. He had to push his feelings aside. His future self had failed the Tenth, now he was in the future with his boss to try to prevent this from happening. But it wasn’t easy, the Vongola were being hunted for their Vongola rings by the Millefiore family. While he didn't want to admit it... he was scared. He had already failed the Tenth once, he was in this strange foreign world where there was a price on his head, and to top it all off he had lost the boy who loved him.... naturally his mood had taken a SPECIAL turn south. He had already lashed out on Yamamoto a few times. Now him and the baseball idiot were screwed into an all knew lifetime because he lost his temper. One of the Millefiore generals had engaged them in a fight, Yamamoto was down, and now Hayato was being toyed with by Gamma. The man had him pinned on the ground, stepping on his hand until their was a sickening crack. Hayato screamed in agony but refused to say a word... he would gladly die for his boss’s sake. This was all his fault to begin with. If he hadn’t acted out... if his future self hadn’t failed his boss....

He just remained close to Hayato, holding on to him. They'd be out of here soon, he wouldn't have to spend much time as a prisoner again. Not again.
But then the machine opened and Ryuutaro raised his head to look inside as well. So that was what he'd look like. What he'd become and who he'd stay with.
He was considerably less shocked than Gokudera though. Even if this was the farthest and most real look into the future he had, he still was used to it.
This was just proof of what was his fate and what ought to happen.
His look wandered from his older self to the older Hayato, curiously for a moment. This was the man he was going to see the boy next to him grow into. A fascinating thought, indeed.
He looked up at Hayato and for a short moment he was smiling.
"Looks like interesting times to come", he said silently, not really expecting any sort of answer.

The feeling is quickly dashed as Souichi starts to explain everything. Apparently the machine was used to prevent their older selves from going back to the past to try and fix the future, trapping the younger versions here: and the one who shot them all with the ten year bazooka? Souichi. For the purpose of obtaining the rings that the older Vongola had destroyed, because with the power of those rings as well as another set of rings known as the Mare rings and the Arcobaleno Pacifiers, Byakuran, the leader of the Millefiore, would have the power to destroy the world and build a new one. Gokudera is speechless, he knew the ring was important, to him it represented his place in the Vongola as the Tenth's right-hand man; the entire purpose of his life. He knew they were powerful as well, but he didn't know the artifact had that kind of power.
He went to look at his ring only to find that it was not there. His eyes widened and his head snapped up, suddenly he wasn't feeling so confident about the situation. He did his best not to show it though. He took a deep breath and kept his gaze focused on his boss. The Tenth could handle it. As his right-hand man he would lead by example and stay strong and put all his faith in his Boss.
The pair of twins next to Souichi step forward, claiming that if he does not hand over his ring by the count of three they will switch the gas in the chamber to poison, killing all inside. Tsuna struggles to take off his now dormant gloves (which had reverted to their rather ridiculous mitten-form during the conversation) while Lal Mirch shouts at him to forget about them and attack Souichi, claiming they would kill them all anyway once the ring was handed over. At one time Gokudera would have agreed with Lal and joined her calls, but he had Ryuutaro. He told Ryuutaro everything would be fine. He couldn't just change that to 'please kill us now because they'll definitely do it later'. He sits up with Ryuutaro, running his hand through his hair with a loving gentleness that betrayed how tense he was, as well as the feeling of the situation they were in. With the hand woven into the locks of Ryuutaro's hair he pulls the boy's head closer for a little kiss on the forehead, though the teens eyes never leave the scene before them, and his intense expression unchanging. He leans closer to Ryuutaro's ear and whispers soothingly to him.
"Everything is going to be fine, Tesoro. You weren't brought here just to be miserable and die. We're going to get out of here, fix this mess, go back to our time. I'll become the Tenth's right hand man, I'll grow stronger and always make sure you're safe. And we'll grow old together, and maybe even find a way to get married. I promise, we're going to be okay. We're always going to be okay."

But also trapped and locked into something, threatened to kind of suffocate with poison even combined about everything he was scared of. Trapped. Unable to breath. Poisoned.
Listening to Hayato helped banning the words out of his head, at least that.
He nodded, but his hands were still tightly clenching Hayato's clothes and did not seem like they'd relax anytime soon.
"I-i know... I'm... an expert about future, right...? Of course it'll be f-fine..."

...
And then all the brain cells in Gokudera's head just stalled.
no subject
That made no sense at all anymore, but since Ryuutaro had given up on making sense out of things a while ago it wasn't that bad for him.
"...what is this about?"
Were they dying now? Didn't seem like it, not yet, and that wasn't so bad.
Souchi seemed merely pathetic right now...

Gokudera's eyes widened for a moment. Just Hibari and Souichi? Hibari? Without completely realizing that he was talking aloud he mutters, "W-why didn't he tell me?"
Of course he's not thinking about how bad off he would have been if he had thought the Tenth was dead. Even planned, his calmer more mature older self would still be pretty broken up about everything. Still, it doesn't do anything to stop the little sting of hurt his younger self felt by being left out.
Souichi continues explaining on. The girls and kids (and possibly Ryuutaro) had been brought to give the guardians something to fight for to protect. Tsuna protested what he saw as ruthless cruelty from his older self, only to be shouted at by Souichi. That was how bad their situation was. They had to resort to such horrible and drastic measures because Byakuran was that dangerous.
no subject
It had all been planned out... He wasn't sure if that made their situation better or worse, but the longer Souichi talked the more he thought it was the latter.
Leaving Hayato out on all this wasn't earning Tsuna any points in Ryuutaro's book either. His boyfriend was worth more than all those other people here and hurting him was not allowed.
Even if he might see or not see the reasons, that was just out of question.
And... something to protect? He felt himself get angry. He thought of the girls and children... For that they had been endangered? He might not care for other people overly much, but he was not cold-hearted either.
This was just wrong and maybe just the reason he had learned to hate organisations.
"... this is ridiculous", he said silently. He was here for Hayato and he would not ever leave him alone in this, but... This world... these people... He could feel himself liking them even less and less.

"I'm sorry..."
Naturally Gokudera was no longer paying much attention to the conversation between Souichi and his boss. The important explanation was over however, now the main discussion being about the importance of the Varia buying them time. Finally the doors of the container are opened to let them out, which Hayato follows, leading Ryuutaro by the hand, though he's lacking the spark he had earlier when the situation was dire.

Ryuutaro did his best to not make it sound too sharply as he looked up at Hayato, a serious look on his face. He was tired of hearing it. He had decided to stay here and it was not Hayato who had messed this world up that badly, quite the contrary.
"It's not like any of this would be your fault."
He wished Hayato would stop taking everything on himself. Maybe there were some things he had to blame himself for, but something like this?
It was all just so very ridiculous. Ryuutaro's hand clung to Hayato's tightly.

"Oh no. This is merely a little break. Both the main battle in Italy, and the Malone base in Japan have been very entertaining."
A hologram appears of a man with white hair.
"This pre-game battle had a very important purpose you know. Like how you've shown me the abilities of the true abilities of the Vongola's most powerful squad. And Sou-chan's desperate act of trying to lie to me."
Hayato holds Ryuutaro close, cussing under his breath. FUCK! He was too exhausted to fight properly, but he'd be damned if he didn't try.

He was slowly reaching the point beyond being afraid at which he just was angry. They deserved none of this, it was just not fair. He wasn't even sure what he was angry at specifically, but he was so angry, he wanted to scream.
For someone who loved working along he got involved in organisation business a few times too often in his life.
"So he's behind all of this?", he whispered, his voice cold as ice as he tried to hold back all the rage.
no subject
"Yeah, that's Byakuran."
Byakuran goes on to challenge the Vongola and Souichi to a 'game' with the trinessette at stake, and revealed that the rings the Millefiore Family had been using were fake, and that those that had been defeated were not the true funeral wreaths. He goes on to show them, and with to prove the power and loyalty of these Funeral Wreaths he had one, the sotrm guardian, demonstrate his loyalty. And the storm guardian's demonstration was destroying the village that raised him.
Hayato held Ryuutaro a little bit tighter. He was going to have to fight that. He would without a second thought, as cruel as it seemed, having Ryuutaro there had given him quite a potent boost to his resolutions, but he was still afraid. That was a huge demenstration of power.... could he really beat it?
no subject
He looked at Hayato silently and then he just closed his eyes tightly, hiding his face in Hayato's clothes as he leaned against his chest.
He hated being this weak, but right now he couldn't bring himself to care for his pride anymore. Just for a few minutes he needed to pretend nothing around him existed.
no subject
Byakuran goes on to explain that he will challenge the Vongola to a game of "choice" in ten days, and that they were free to rest those ten days, since he will not be moving.
...then goes on to say the base is about to teleport...
There's a flash of light and Gokudera grabs Ryuutaro, bolting as close to the opposing wall as he could and diving to the ground. He kept Ryuutaro's head close to his chest, his hand protectively placed behind his head, and leaning his body over him to protect him from the debris.
no subject
His heart was pounding against his chest almost hurtfully and for a moment all he wanted was for his nightmare to be over and done with. He wanted to wakeup wherever, sometime in the past when these problems had not existed.
no subject
Then he looked around a bit... at the lack of base... and subsequently large hole in the ground. All surprise aside, he sits next to Ryuutaro and puts his arm around him for support. As scared as he was about everything he could only imagine what Ryuutaro just went through. If he thought destroyed stadiums were a big deal...
Still, he wanted to try and help him feel better so he looked up at the now exposed sky and smiled a little.
"Well, at least we're outside now." He nuzzled his head against Ryuutaro, remembering something he had told him during the slasher week plot that seemed to be very relevent for the time being, "At least the sky's still blue."
no subject
It was just the amount of violence in this world that scared him, even though that now that Byakuran's hologram was gone, he'd surpress it as good as he could.
He scared blankly for another minute before smiling slightly as he looked at Hayato.
"Indeed. Knowing that is worth a lot."
He took a deep breath as he looked up, leaning against Hayato's shoulder.
He knew that Hayato had told him to not get used to this, he knew how much it meant to Hayato and while he knew he wouldn't be able to get used to it anytime soon, he wondered if it wouldn't be better to try, regardless of what Hayato said.
Only being here to be protected, to be scared... that was not the kind of life he'd ever want to live.
no subject
Though before Hayato could thank Ryuutaro for everything there was an unmistakable shout... from a certain lawn head- now ten years younger.
"WHERE IS THIS PLACE TO THE EXTREME!?"
Hayato let out a half-hearted and tired laugh,"Well looks like dipshit A is here..."
no subject
"Hello, Sasagawa-kun", he smiled a bit.
He wasn't even sure if this Ryohei would know him, because either he had not been to the Manor yet or already forgotten it maybe, but greeting didn't hurt either way.
And however annoying Ryohei had been, it was kind of nice to see a more familiar face at this place.
no subject
"Give him a minute he's trying to think."
"FUKAMI! ARE YOU HERE TO JOIN THE BOXING CLUB!?"
Don't mind Hayato as he just pulls a face at the sun guardian. "I'm too tired to deal with him right now..."
Apparently he's not the only one, as Tsuna quickly states that they'll explain everything to him later. Then Kusakabe speaks up, clearly quite shaken by the recent turn of events.
"There is not doubt that Sasagawa and the sun ring coming here is valuable.. but the situation is no good. Stronger than the previous funeral wreaths...how could we fight with our powers as of now..."
"Then we just have to do it rough~!"Yamamoto spoke up, finally awake. Tsuna lets out a cheerful cry obviously glad to see the rain guardian awake and doing okay.
Gokudera however puts on his best
tundere faceimpassive face, "Tch. Dipdhit B is finally up. Dumbass, making people worry."And by people he did not mean himself. All of you shut up.
no subject
But yes, the situation was no good at all. Ryuutaro thought for a little moment.
"...if I have my powers back now... I might be able to give you the advantage of knowing some details about the future, if you'd accept my humble offer. I'm not completely sure though, I'd need to test how far this world's fate lets me go."
Usually he would've never admitted to any kind of weakness, but this was a matter of life and death and he wanted to do something, even if he wasn't sure how much he could actually do.
There once was a time when he thought fate could not be changed, but that had been his world's fate.... And even if this fate was the same... At least they could maybe meet the unavoidable with some preparations made.

Reborn smiled and nodded at Ryuutaro, then turning to explain to Souichi who looked a bit confused, "Fukami-kun has already given us vital intelligence before we lead the attack here."
Souichi brightened up, and moved to the machine, "I have something to contribute as well, or more precisely, your future selfs' do." He pressed some buttons on the side of the machine, causing the center to open. Seven boxes shoot out engulfed in one of the seven elemental flames to their respective owners.
"If we can predict the level of threat, I'm sure we can train accordingly! You've all grown drastically already!"
Gokudera gives a startled look at the red box, and was a little hesitant to touch it at first... as would anyone with a brain and knowledge of what storm flames could do, but he did take the ornate little box in his hands.
no subject
As much as he disliked the entire Vongola-thing, he wanted to somehow contribute to this. It would be a bit more like he was actually carrying his own weight.
As the boxes show up, Ryuutaro said nothing and just watched. He had no real idea of these things, so he'd have to wait and see what happened and what those even were.
no subject
As Souichi finished speaking, Gokudera looked at the box in an all new light. The Tenth Vongola was entrusting this to him. He was really his chosen storm guardian. This meant that he was important to the Vongola... even though the Tenth didn't tell him about the plan, and even if he couldn't protect the Tenth from his 'death'...
He was still a valuable asset to the place that took him in.
His grip around Ryuutaro tightened a bit as his cheeks lit up and his eyes watered a bit. Here he was, the 'oriental half-breed', valued and important by one of the most prestigious famiglia's in the world. For once he felt special enough to be able to stand next to Ryuutaro proudly. He meant something in the world now... and it felt so good.
no subject
Even if Ryuutaro had no idea what was up with these boxes.
And for a moment he wondered why boxes should be any less weird than spinning topsRyuutaro smiled up at Hayato faintly. There was no 'congratulations' simply because Hayato should know by now just how natural Ryuutaro thought this was.
