An eternity that nearly killed Hayato. Did he not want to be here? Hayato could understand... to just forsake the world you came from and everything you knew all for the sake of one person... it was a bit much. And Hayato obviously didn't hold himself high on the value chart, while he had gotten better- much better- that constant doubt was something too ingrained in him to ever let up completely.
Hence the tightened grip on Ryuutaro's hand and the sad almost apologetic smile on his face. It was his fault Ryuutaro was stuck here. Ryuutaro always said he had found his place in the world... and now that was taken away because of him. He takes a deep breath...

In the end that was what was most important. He couldn't be selfish. That didn't stop the sinking feeling in his chest at thinking about moving on without Ryuutaro. He didn't know how he would... but if Ryuutaro was happy... and smiling... even if it was somewhere else far away from him, he loved him enough to let him go. Even if it broke his heart.
